Here is how sports physiotherapy proceeds

Injuries, stress injuries or pain do not need to undermine your active lifestyle and goals as an athlete.  

For example, if your shoulder becomes painful while playing golf or if your Achilles tendon has been operated on, we can help you to return to your beloved sport.     

  • Substitute and maintenance exercises. To begin with, your physiotherapist will plan exercises for you that can be performed while the injury is still fresh. 
  • Increasing the physical effort. As you recover, easy exercises will be used to restore your muscle strength and functional capacity. 
  • Return to Sports training programme. When returning to your sport, a carefully planned, increasingly demanding 4–6 week training programme is carried out. After this, you can safely return to normal training. 

You should not quit rehabilitation halfway through as it increases the risk of the injury recurring immediately.
